For Father’s Day, my sister and I gave my dad “dad and daughter day coupons” that he could redeem whenever he wanted, since our lives are all so busy to do much on one day. My coupon included taking my dad out to eat, and I decided to take him for Thai since it’s one of his favorite cuisines!
I found Curry Curry through Scoutmob (there’s a coupon on the app for 50% off your meal!) and decided to try it! We went on Sunday and they’re only open for dinner on Sundays, but we weren’t complaining! Curry Curry is one of those strip mall joints and doesn’t look like much, but it is definitely a hole-in-the-wall in the best way possible! Inside, a colorful restaurant awaits you, filled with photos of Thailand, yummy smells, and nice waiters. Fortunately, there weren’t any other customers there but us since we went right when they opened for the day.
We ordered some egg rolls for an appetizer and not only did they taste yummy and fresh, we could also tell they were made just for us because of the smell of them cooking a few minutes before and because they were piping hot! The sweet and sour sauce accompanying them was perfect and not too sweet, not too sour.
For his main dish, my dad ordered the Spicy Basil Fried Rice, which he let me taste. It was advertised as spicy with two pepper symbols, and lived up to this description (which is good because my dad likes his food spicy!). You can choose chicken, veggies, tofu, steak, or shrimp in most of their dishes, and my dad chose chicken. There were also a ton of veggies already in the fried rice, so you definitely don’t feel guilty eating the heaping plate of it! The only complaint my dad had was that the dish could have used more chicken, but that didn’t stop him from enjoying it!
I ordered the Pad Thai with chicken after seeing that Scoutmob listed it as a menu highlight. It came in a huge bowl, with all of the elements (peanuts, bean sprouts, etc.) all in their little secluded places, just waiting to have the wedge of lime squeezed over them and then for a willing customer to stir them together. And I was that very willing customer. The Pad Thai was perfect, with just the right amount of everything; I love a good pad Thai!
The only complaint we had was the gigantic portions. But hey–giant portions mean more leftovers!
